Olympique Lyonnais shareholders Pathé and IDG Capital have confirmed that they are exploring the possibility of selling their stakes in the French football club.
The pair have appointed merchant bank, Raine Group to manage the potential sale to the highest bidder.
Film production company, Pathé holds a 19.36 per cent share in the Ligue 1 club, while investment firm IDG owns a 19.85 per cent stake.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas owns 29.75 per cent of the club through his Holnest holding company, while the remaining 33.07 per cent of capital belongs to other investors.
The news comes amid a slump in Lyon’s finances. The club’s most recent financial report for the 2020/21 season showed that the club’s revenue fell to €177.4 million, a 35 per cent drop compared to the previous year, which contributed to a loss of €107 million.
