Some members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress in Ondo State.
The move comes exactly one week to the October 10 gubernatorial election in the state.
Chairman of the state chapter of the ADC, Tokunbo Adetoro, led the defectors who were received by his APC counterpart, Ade Adetimilehin today at the party Secretariat in Akure, the state capital.
Adetimilehin described their move as a step in the right direction.

The defectors pledged their allegiance, and promised to work to ensure that incumbent Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, emerges victorious at the poll.
On the reason for the defection, Adetoro credited the performance of the Akeredolu-led government for informing the decision.
”We will work for the success of the APC in Saturday’s election because Governor Akeredolu deserves a second term,” Adetoro said.
