Despite the ongoing rehabilitation work on the Third Mainland Bridge, a Volkswagen LT bus was reportedly engulfed by fire, creating serious disturbance for motorists plying Adekunle axis of the bridge.
Eyewitness report disclosed that the incident occurred at about 2pm, outward Third Mainland Bridge.
The driver of the white colour bus was said to be conveying unknown quantity of diesel in kegs to an unknown destination when it suddenly went up in flames.
However, the prompt response of emergency responders prevented the situation from degenerating.

The thick smoke was said to have enveloped the vicinity such that many motorists disembarked from their vehicles and scampered for safety but the prompt emergency response was said to have remedied the situation from degenerating further though the bus was burnt beyond recognition.
The development further compounded the traffic situation in the area.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Command Olusegun Ogungbemide, confirmed the incident though he did not give details as at the time of filing this report.
Also, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Public Affairs Officer Nosa Okunbor also confirmed the incident.
As at 5.20pm, the traffic in the axis was slow just as no life was lost to the incident.
