In an explosive interview on Arise TV, Nasir El-Rufai, a former Governor of Kaduna State made a series of controversial statements that have rocked Nigeria’s political landscape.
Known for his outspoken and sometimes incendiary remarks, El-Rufai didn’t hold back when discussing the country’s leadership and the person currently occupying the highest office: President Bola Tinubu.
While the entire interview was full of political drama, it was his sharp comments about Tinubu that have left Nigerians questioning the true nature of their relationship and what it means for the future of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Here are three major things El-Rufai said about Tinubu that could have far-reaching consequences for both their political fortunes and the stability of the ruling government.
1. Tinubu’s Political Tactics
El-Rufai wasted no time in exposing the political tactics adopted by many Nigerian politicians and of course, Tinubu himself.
The politics of give and take, which has become the roadmap for every politician.

According to Rufai, he had warned Tinubu that he doesn’t want anything in return for his support. However, he was offered a juicy ministerial position and later betrayed.
2. Tinubu’s Betrayal
Another bombshell dropped by El-Rufai was his claim that Tinubu betrayed him.
Contrary to the reports in public domains that the former Governor was rejected by the National Assembly, El-Rufai said it was the president himself who rejected and dropped him.
Apparently, Nigerians were lied to.
3. The Government Is Not Functioning
Perhaps the most damning of El-Rufai’s statements was his admission that the APC was a “party without direction,” suggesting that its leadership, under Tinubu, lacked clear vision and cohesion.
According to him, he cares less about the ministerial position, however, Rufai insisted that it was his right to know why the party is not functioning.
