DJ Jimmy Jatt Opens Up About Kidney Transplant And Health Struggles

In a recent interview on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, DJ Jimmy Jatt revealed that his health struggles began in 2020 when he lost his sight, later regaining it after surgery.

It was during this time that he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.

He disclosed that his health issues coincided with his plans to explore life outside Nigeria after spending most of his life in Lagos. “In 2019, I decided to spend more time abroad to explore the world. But in 2020, I started experiencing health problems. ”

“Travel restrictions meant I stayed in Nigeria, where I lost my sight. After surgery to restore it, I relocated to the U.S. and was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease,” he said.

While in the United States, the iconic DJ Jimmy Jatt underwent dialysis before returning to Nigeria for a kidney transplant. Following the procedure, he chose to recover privately before resuming work abroad.

Jimmy Jatt emphasised that lifestyle choices are not always the root cause of kidney ailments, sharing that he has never smoked and had quit drinking alcohol years earlier. He attributed his condition to diabetes.

The DJ concluded by reflecting on his journey and expressed gratitude for his recovery, which allowed him to return to the decks in America, Europe, and eventually Nigeria in December.
