The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, is getting set to leave the government house. He has inaugurated a 20-member transition committee for a smooth transition.
The committee was inaugurated on July 11, 2024.
Their major task is to ensure a smooth transfer of power and knowledge to the next administration.
We are still four months away from the end of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s term.
The committee is chaired by former Commissioner for Finance Joseph Eboigbe, with members joining both in person and virtually.
Obaseki highlighted the committee’s responsibility to document the achievements of his administration over the past eight years.
They will collect and organise all relevant documents, including policy decisions, contracts, presentations, and more. Afterwards, they will put them into a structured data room, mostly digitised.
This repository will serve as institutional memory for future administrations and assist in policy development and research.
Vision, Policy Impact And Initiatives
The committee is tasked with creating a comprehensive report detailing the strategic vision, policy impact, and the status of various initiatives, both completed and uncompleted.
This report will guide the incoming administration, ensuring they understand where to continue the work.

Governor Obaseki stressed the importance of having both a physical and digital vault of all the information.
Also, he highlighted the decisions made during his administration, emphasising its relevance for internal and external use, research, and potential policy development.
