The reinstatement of Philip Shaibu, as the Deputy Governor of Edo State, added nothing but fresh spice to the ongoing drama in the state.
The upcoming September 21, 2024, governorship election has left the state in high preparations.
As expected, this period is filled with drama, we mean, so much drama, spiced with suspense.
Now, another drama has ensued in the state as Shaibu claims that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Asue Ighodalo, has not been accepted by the people of the state.
Shaibu made this known during an interview on Channels TV programme, Politics Today.
According to Shaibu, Ighodalo’s kinsmen have rejected him because he can’t speak their native language.
He vowed that the PDP candidate, who has the backing of the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki, would be defeated at the polls.

He said: “We are out now in politics and we will see where Obaseki has a shield and we are waiting for him in this election.
“I can tell you that the people don’t want Asue Ighodalo; even his own people in Ewohimi don’t want him because he can’t speak their language.”
The election draws near with each passing day.
As the drama unfolds, one question begs for an answer.
Who will be the next governor of Edo State?
Only time will tell.
