Sabrina Carpenter Opens Up About Smash Hit “Espresso”

She attributes the song’s inspiration to a trip to a crêperie in France, which resulted in a catchy and unapologetic chorus.

Carpenter collaborated with songwriters Steph Jones and Amy Allen, as well as producer Julian Bunetta, to create the song’s quotable lyrics.

She praised her collaborators, saying “That’s the only way those borderline idiotic-slash-funniest lyrics can happen.”

Jack Antonoff, who produced half of her forthcoming album, also commended her approach to pop music, calling her an “unbelievable singer”.

Following the success of “Espresso”, which reached the top five on Billboard’s Hot 100 and number one in the UK, Ireland, and Australia,

Carpenter announced a collaboration with Van Leeuwen for an espresso-flavored ice cream.

Her sixth studio album, “Short n’ Sweet”, is set to release on August 23.
