Beauty entrepreneur Laura Ikeji Kanu has criticised some business owners, particularly hair braiders, over what she described as excessive price increases during the festive season.
In a video shared online, Laura expressed shock at the sudden hike in her braider’s charges simply because it is December.
Laura Ikeji revealed that the same hairstyle previously cost ₦70,000 before she travelled out of Nigeria, but her braider now insists on charging nothing less than ₦250,000, citing “Detty December” as the reason.
Reacting angrily, Laura described the situation as a reflection of greed, warning that such behaviour could ruin the festive season for everyone.
She stressed that while December is a peak sales period for her business, she does not exploit customers through unreasonable pricing.
The entrepreneur further lamented what she called the exploitation of Nigerians in the diaspora who return home to enjoy the holidays.
According to her, many of them are not billionaires but regular people who save up to visit Nigeria, adding that this should not be used as an excuse to overcharge them.
