The movie, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, has premiered at the Terra Kulture Theatre in Lagos, Nigeria.
The movie premiere, which took place on May 12, 2024, brought dignitaries from different walks of life to the Terra Kulture Theatre.
Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti the movie is set to be shown in cinemas nation-wide on May 17, 2024.

The Plot
The upcoming movie tells the story of the late Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, a well-known political activist, educator, and women’s rights advocate from Nigeria .
Also, it explores her marriage to Israel Ransome-Kuti, her tenure at Abeokuta Grammar School, and her revolutionary fight against patriarchy and colonialism through the founding of the Abeokuta Women’s Union.
Furthermore, Funmilayo was not only the mother of modern Africa women’s resistance in the roaring twenties.
She was a proud mother of four, namely; Fela Kuti, Olikoye Ransome-Kuti, Beko Ransome-Kuti and Dolupo Ransome-Kuti.

However, Fela moved on to become a pioneer of the Afrobeat music genre, a human rights activist, and a bold political maverick.
The film is written by Tunde Babalola and directed by Bolane Austen-Peters.
The Cast
It stars Kehinde Bankole, Ajoke Silva, Adunni Ade, Adebayo Salami, Omowunmi Dada, Jide Kosoko, Dele Odule, Ibrahim Suleiman, Bikiya Graham-Douglas, Yewande Osamein, and Iyimide Ayo-Olumoko.
However, Governor Dapo at the premiere highlighted the importance of women’s rights concerning the life of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti
Also, he made remarks about about women’s rights and democracy, regarding the movie’s theme.
He also gave Bolanle Austen her flowers for being a hard worker in telling rich Nigerian stories.
