Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has chosen 28-year-old travel content creator, Pelumi Nubi, as the state’s tourism ambassador.
The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, announced the appointment in a tweet on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Pelumi’s Appointment
During the event, the governor named Pelumi as the Tourism ambassador for the state. He also announced that she would receive a car and a house as gifts, along with covering the bills from her trip.
He encouraged her to explore the state and share the Lagos story she experienced.
Sanwo-Olu said, “We want you to take time to explore all sides of Lagos; go on our train and boat rides. We want you to discover your home and share the Lagos story you’ve seen with the world.”

Nubi, who completed her solo road trip from London, United Kingdom, to Lagos, Nigeria on Sunday, April 7, 2024, was welcomed at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border by the state Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and the Special Adviser, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe.
Nubi began her solo journey in a car on January 30, 2024.
