The planning committee of the Cross River governorship inauguration says it is yet to receive money from the government of the state.
How they want vendors to begin actions without money.
While they wait, it is just 5 days to the inauguration and handover of power to Prince Bassey Otu as governor of Cross River State.
Confirming the delay in the release of funds, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, a former Senate leader, expressed hope that the funds would be released to his committee soon.
The ceremony, which will take place at U.J. Esuene Stadium, is only slated to last 10 to 15 minutes. The taking of the pledge of allegiance is at the heart of the occasion.
Numerous Subcommittees
Despite the scenario, he said, “the numerous subcommittees have since launched out, all to ensure that the incoming governor’s inauguration goes off without a hitch.
“The subcommittees are made up of skilled state officials.
“While we await the release of funds to allow my committee to prepare for the inauguration of the new governor, we have encouraged the vendors, who are not strangers to the state, to begin actions.

“We are taking the necessary steps. We’ve contacted decorators, security, and the head of the judiciary.
“We’ve had our meetings and divided into subcommittees.
“We also collaborate with other independent committees.
“Since dignitaries and other tourists would be arriving in Calabar to attend the inauguration, we have pressured appropriate government agencies to ensure rubbish evacuation and overall cleanliness of the city.
“We know Calabar has always been a clean and green city, and there are government agencies tasked with ensuring cleanliness.
“However, we are pressuring them to ensure that the work is completed efficiently because dignitaries will be arriving in the city to witness the inauguration of the new governor,” he said.
