President Bola Tinubu and his All Progressives Congress (APC) party will surely face many contenders in the 2027 election, but for Rabiu Kwankwaso, the front runner of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), that election will see the end of the ruling party.
As a matter of fact, Kwankwaso has vowed to significantly diminish the APC’s votes in Kano State come 2027.
Indeed, stakeholders from Tsanyawa Local Government Area including former councillors and senior special advisers who served under his previous administration had stormed Kwankwaso’s Kano residence for a crucial meeting.
it was during that meeting that the NNPP leader rolled out his plans.
He attributed the New Nigeria People’s Party’s (NNPP) strong performance in the 2023 elections to the dedication of his team, which sidelined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to secure only 15,000 votes in Kano.

Despite being a relatively new political platform and starting its campaign late, the NNPP made significant strides in the state.
Kwankwaso asserted: “Now, it’s our turn to diminish APC’s influence. We will work tirelessly to ensure their votes are reduced to less than 15,000 in Kano come 2027.”
He stressed the importance of grassroots mobilisation and unwavering commitment to strengthening the NNPP’s position as a leading political force in Kano and beyond.
He also urged his supporters to stay focused and deliver results that would ensure the party’s future electoral success.
