Strong Dividend Growth

Meanwhile, the board finalised audited financial statements and will present them at the upcoming AGM.

However, the company has yet to announce the date for the Annual General Meeting.

Geregu Power Solid Financial Performance

By September, retained earnings had risen to ₦55.1 billion, reaching nearly 98% of total equity.

Moreover, pre-tax profit increased 3.31% to ₦37.46 billion in the first nine months.

Additionally, revenue surged 37.38% in Q3, bringing nine-month revenue to ₦131.47 billion.

Energy sales of ₦85.5 billion and capacity charges of ₦45.9 billion drove this growth.

Furthermore, operating profit climbed to ₦42.2 billion from ₦37 billion in the same period last year.

On the balance sheet, total assets expanded to ₦273.1 billion, while liabilities rose 13.53% to ₦216.7 billion.

Despite rising operating costs, management maintained overall financial performance effectively.

As a result, the current dividend yield stands at 0.79%, slightly higher than 0.75% in 2024.

Strategic Ownership Change

Also, government bond payouts could strengthen liquidity, benefiting Geregu and other power companies.

Specifically, the Federal Government plans a ₦500 billion payment to clear outstanding Genco debts.

Earlier this year, Femi Otedola sold his controlling 95% stake to MA’AM Energy Ltd for $750 million.

Now, MA’AM Energy controls Geregu Power and is expected to benefit from government bond disbursements.

This ownership change marks one of Nigeria’s largest private power sector deals.

Overall, Geregu Power’s rising dividend and strong earnings demonstrate stability and ambition.

The company continues to lead Nigeria’s electricity generation sector with clear growth potential.

Finally, shareholders await the AGM to approve the dividend and review the full financial statements.
