Tensions flared at Zenith Bank, Ijaiye Ojokoro branch as angry customers demanded their money after a two-day service shutdown.
Many were desperate to transfer their funds to other banks amid ongoing frustrations.
Monday morning almost turned chaotic as angry customers of Zenith Bank gathered at the Ijaiye Ojokoro branch in Lagos, demanding access to their money.
The bank’s online services had been shut down for over two days, leaving many stranded without access to funds.
One of the customers, Segun, looked frustrated as he explained why he was there.
For two days, he had tried to withdraw or transfer money through the bank’s mobile app, but nothing worked.
“My family nearly went hungry yesterday because of this issue,” he said, adding that his ATM card wasn’t working either.
Segun’s main goal was to transfer his funds to another bank after being unable to access his money through any means.
A young woman carrying a baby on her back echoed her frustration.
She said her husband sent her money on Tuesday, but she still hadn’t received it by Monday.
Others in the crowd shared similar stories, all waiting anxiously for their chance to fix the problem.

In an effort to calm the crowd, a bank officer explained that the issue was nationwide.
He said the bank was undergoing an upgrade to improve their services and prevent further shutdowns.
“We value our customers above all,” the officer assured, pleading for patience.
But the crowd wasn’t easily pacified.
An elderly man, clearly upset, interrupted, demanding his money.
Speaking in Yoruba and broken English, he said the shutdown had left him hungry, and he needed access to his funds urgently.
Despite the officer’s reassurances, the customers remained restless, waiting for the situation to be resolved.
