The winner of Netflix’s Squid Game: The Challenge has been revealed after the reality show saw 456 people compete for a huge cash prize.
Mai Whelan, who was number 287, won $4.56 million in the season finale. The 55-year-old from Virginia played a game of “rock paper scissors” against the runner-up, Phill Cain, a scuba instructor from Hawaii.
The reality show is based on Netflix’s popular 2021 South Korean series “Squid Game,” which will have a second season.
Although the show has been renewed for another season, some participants from the first season are making legal claims, seeking compensation for injuries like hypothermia and nerve damage.
The series, filmed in Bedford, became Netflix’s biggest-ever series launch and won six Primetime Emmys for its debut season.
