An eventful contest at the Etihad Stadium saw John Stones snatch a dramatic 98th-minute equaliser for City in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Haaland had opened the scoring, with his 100th goal for the reigning Premier League champions, before Rodri hobbled off injured and Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel turned the clash on its head.

Leandro Trossard was then sent off for the Gunners – collecting a second yellow card for kicking the ball away – and Mikel Arteta’s side spent the entire second half desperately hanging on to the slenderest of leads.

Late heartache was inflicted by Stones.

However, after the England international defender bundled home, Haaland picked the ball up and threw it against the head of Brazilian defender Gabriel – who could not see what was happening as he had his shirt over his face.

No action was taken at the time.

However, it has been revealed that Haaland will escape any punishment – along with City as a whole – as all contentious incidents were reviewed by VAR as the game was taking place.

The Football Association’s disciplinary team is happy that no further action will be required.
