Tiwa Savage premiered her first movie, ‘Water and Garri,’ on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Livespot Entertainment Center in Lekki, Lagos.
The movie tells the story of Aisha, a fashion designer who returns to her hometown after 10 years in the US.
She must face the changes and tensions that have developed since she left, and confront her past and her guilt.
The movie was filmed in Ghana and features beautiful cinematography and a gripping story.
It stars Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde. The title “Water and Garri” comes from Tiwa Savage’s 2021 music EP.
This is Tiwa Savage’s first acting role, and the movie will be available in over 240 countries worldwide in 2024.
She premiered the movie in London and New York before coming to Lagos, Nigeria.
The Lagos premiere was attended by A-list celebrities including Iyabo Ojo, Paulo Okoye, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, and others.
The movie was directed and edited by Meji Alabi, produced by Jimi Adesanya, and written by Comfort Emmanuel, with music by Tiwa Savage.
