Thierry Henry has announced France’s 18-man squad for the Olympic Games, featuring experienced players like Alexandre Lacazette and new Bayern Munich signing Michael Olise.
However, notable absences include Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann, who will not participate due to club commitments.
Mbappe recently joined Real Madrid, and clubs are not required to release players for the Olympic Games.
Warren Zaire-Emery and Bradley Barcola, who were named in the preliminary list, will also not join the squad.
Instead, Henry has selected Lyon attacker Rayan Cherki, Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, and Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta, who is one of the three permitted players aged over 23 in the squad.
France will face the United States in their opening game on July 24 in Marseille, followed by matches against Guinea and New Zealand in Group A.
Henry’s squad will rely on the experience of players like Lacazette and Mateta to navigate the tournament.
