Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has successfully undergone wrist surgery following an injury sustained during a Serie A match against Genoa last week, according to the club.
“Surgery is done,” he wrote on X. “Big thanks to Dr. Pigoli and his team! Played the last two months with a broken ligament in my hand.”
He continued, “For now, I’ll be supporting the team from the stands, recover and work hard for a comeback in top form! See you soon!”
Okoye, 24, is set to begin rehabilitation and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.
The Nigerian international became Udinese’s first-choice goalkeeper in the latter half of the 2023/24 season, playing a vital role in helping the club avoid relegation.
This season, he has made 14 Serie A appearances.
