Sokoto Bombing: Survivors Recount Deadly Experience

The tragic bombing that claimed over 10 lives and left many others injured in Sokoto State has become an issue of National interest.

With reactions pouring in from every corner of the country, the pain of these tragic deaths becomes visible by the day.

One cannot begin to imagine the trauma that those who survived the Sokoto Bombing would have to deal with.

Sokoto Bombing: Survivors Recount Deadly Experience

As we speak, a resident, who witnessed the bloody incident has recounted the harrowing experience of watching her family burn to death.

The distraught woman requested anonymity. She described how her father, mother, and three younger siblings were burnt to death during the airstrike.

She said: “I saw them burning—my mother, my father, and my three younger brothers.”

Another resident, Usman Manuga, also narrated the incident: “After the Fajr (early morning) prayer, we noticed planes flying overhead. Moments later, bombs were dropped, and everything went up in flames”.

The airstrike was carried out by a Nigerian military warplane. It was targeted at suspected insurgents in the area.

However, the attack reportedly claimed the lives of 10 civilians and injured six others.

Also, around 100 animals, including camels, cattle, sheep, and donkeys, were killed.
