Before the February 25 presidential election in Nigeria, some celebrities and influencers out openly declared their support for their preferred presidential candidates.
Most of then shared their picks online.
The essence of democracy is for people to support or vote for their preferred choice in government.
But this is not the case as some have been called different names and bullied online for their choices.
Some female celebrities who have been made to bear the brunt of their choice of candidate are:
Toyin Abraham
The producer of the hit movie, Ijakumo, Alakada, The Prophetess, has faced constant bullying for supporting Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Some off her fans took to her page to say they would unfollow her for her decision.
Eniola Badmus
Eniola, who had a fallout with her friend Davido over the issue of his son’s death, is under fire from some of her fans.
In a video on her Instagram page where she celebrated Remi Tinubu, as the incoming First Lady, a fan commented saying, “He be like Say Na Tinubu sponsoring your surgery?’.
While another wrote: “They will soon end their friendship with you just as Davido did. Madam anywhere belle face. 🤥🤥🤥🤥”.
Joke Silva
Joke, the wife of Olu Jacobs, is a renowned actress who has remained relevant in the movie industry for decades got her share of the cake.
It is a wonder how many of her fans expressed disappointment in her choice of Tinubu as president.
From the comments, some are of the belief that she is supposed to be on the side of the youths.
Lizzy Anjorin
Lizzy, on the other hand, refers to Tinubu as her mentor and congratulates him on his victory while urging him to rule with the best interests of Nigerian youth at heart.

In a post, where she wrote, “Vote APCVote @officialasiwajubat#RenewedHope23
A fan commented, “Have you collected your balance?” while another wrote, “unfollow asap.”

Democracy is a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.

This means citizens, including celebrities, have the right to elect the candidate or leader of their choice without intimidation or bullying of any kind.
But will there ever be a time everybody’s choice will be respected?
