On Tuesday, an MJ rookie card sold with auction house Christie’s for $1.008 million — the most expensive card sold from the 1986-87 Fleer Jordan set.
Fleer (purchased by Upper Deck in 2005) re-released 23 autographed rookie Jordan cards and packaged them into boxes in 2006-07 to celebrate the 20th anniversary.
This specific card was numbered 21 out of 23 with a Beckett grade of 8.5 — only 14 of the 23 cards are known to be graded.
In October, a pair of Nike Air Ships that Jordan wore in his rookie season sold for $1.5 million — the most expensive game-worn sneakers ever.
