Raheem Sterling will return to England’s World Cup base in Qatar ahead of Saturday’s quarter-final against France.
The Chelsea forward has been with his family in Surrey ever since missing Sunday’s World Cup match between England and Senegal due to a break-in at his home.
But as he returns to Qatar on Friday, he is now expected to be available for selection for England’s momentous match against the world champions France.
The starting lineup against France will likely feature Sterling again after he was benched in the 3-0 victory over Wales before leaving Qatar.
Sterling wanted assurances that his family were safe – with additional security measures worked through – before returning to Qatar, having departed due to what the FA announced was a “family matter”.
