Professor Godswill Obioma has been appointed as the new Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the National Examinations Council (NECO) by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu confirmed his appointment on Friday in a statement in Abuja.
The Head of Information and Public Relations Division, NECO, Azeez Sani also confirmed the development in a statement saying Prof. Obioma officially took over the affairs of the Council from the former Acting Registrar, Abubakar Gana on Friday at the Council’s headquarters in Minna.

Obioma replaces Prof. Charles Uwakwe, who was dismissed from office alongside four other management staff over alleged unsatisfactory conduct.
Until his appointment as NECO Registrar/CEO, Obioma was a Professor of Education Measurement and Evaluation.
He was a former Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council and the Ebonyi State Resident Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
