The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that no case of theft was established against Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal.
The actress was accused of stealing gold at Oba Akintoye Market in Lagos Island.
The state police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, clarified that the video showing traders accusing Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal of theft was due to a misunderstanding.
According to him, the issue stemmed from a mistake involving incorrect account details.
“There was no theft to begin with. Our investigation revealed that the seller provided the wrong account number.
“Of the 10 digits, one was incorrect, and Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal transferred the payment to the wrong account,” Ben Hundeyin explained.
When it became clear that the accusations were made in error, Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal decided to take legal action against those who accused her.
However, after the suspects were arrested and the case proceeded to court, she chose to withdraw the case for reasons known only to her.
Ben Hundeyin further added that the individuals who accused Anjorin-Lawal admitted their mistake while giving statements at the police station.
