On Tuesday, Nigeria was fully represented in Senegal during the swearing-in of Bassirou Faye as the country’s fifth president.
As the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), President Bola Tinubu joined other African leaders to witness the grand inauguration.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by many African leaders.
Some of the leaders in attendance were, President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana and President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone.
The Election
Faye, who is now the youngest African president, was sworn in on Tuesday at an exhibition centre in Diamniadio near Dakar, the capital of Senegal.
Senegal held its presidential election on March 24, after numerous postponements by former President Macky Sall.

However, Faye defeated Amadou Ba, Senegal’s former prime minister, and won 54 per cent of the votes cast.
The 44-year-old politician was released from detention alongside his political mentor, Ousmane Sanko, ten days before the commencement of the election campaign.
