The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has written a letter to President Bola Tinubu, protesting its removal from the boards of federal government agencies.
The NLC removal from the Nigeria Educational Loans Fund (NELFUND) board, after its representative asked questions, has raised concerns about the government’s intentions.
The union alleges that its removal was followed by a hasty amendment to the Act, de-listing the NLC within two days.
This, the Congress believes, is a vindictive move aimed at silencing its voice.

The letter also highlights the delay in inaugurating boards where the Labour has statutory representation.

The NLC suspects that its criticism and openness have led to its exclusion from these boards.
The union is concerned that this trend would hinder its ability to serve its members.
The Labour union has requested that the President should intervene and reverse these decisions, directing the inauguration of the boards without further delay.
