Nigerian billionaire businesswoman and philanthropist Folorunso Alakija has reportedly lost her eyesight completely, according to medical sources involved in her care.
The devastating news has sent shockwaves across Nigeria.
This marks a dramatic turn in the life of one of Africa’s most influential women.
Health Crisis
According to reports, the 73-year-old founder and Executive Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil began facing serious health challenges following a terrifying near-air mishap.
Sources disclosed that Alakija was travelling alongside her husband, Modupe Alakija, Chairman of Famfa Oil, when the incident occurred.
The distressing experience caused her blood pressure to spike dangerously, ultimately leading to complications that severely affected her vision.
Initially, in response to the traumatic event, Alakija reportedly purchased a new private jet to avoid flying with her husband, hoping to prevent a recurrence of the ordeal.
However, despite this measure, her eyesight continued to deteriorate over time, leading to complete blindness.
Sources close to the business magnate claim that rather than pursuing aggressive medical treatment, Alakija turned to spiritual intervention for healing.
Having been a devout Christian for years, she focused on strengthening her ministry, believing in divine restoration.
In line with her belief, Alakija started a small Christian fellowship in her home in 2004.
Also, she eventually expanded it into the Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International.
She was ordained as an Apostle on her 69th birthday.
