Niger: Man Arrested For Stealing 33 Wrappers Worth ₦ 1m

The Niger State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Abdullah Garba, for housebreaking and theft of 33 wrappers worth one million naira.

CP Ahawulu Danmamman, the state Commissioner of Police, who disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday, December 12, 2024, said the suspect broke into the house while the owner was in church.

“On November 29th, 2024 at about 1030hrs, Police Operation Flush patrol team of Bosso Division, while on a routine stop and search at Imrat Junction, Bosso intercepted a tricycle conveying four passengers from Maikunkele to Bosso,” the CP stated

“The passengers were subjected to a search and a sack belonging to one of the passengers; named Abdullahi Garba was found with ten new wrappers, when questioned, he appeared suspicious and could not give a satisfactory account of the clothes.

“He was arrested and taken to the Division for further investigation, and during interrogation, he confessed that he stole about thirty three wrappers valued about one million naira from a residence around Maitumbi on 24/11/2024.

“However, the owner (victim) was traced and contacted, and she narrated that when she returned from Church Service on the said date, she discovered that her bedroom was burgled through the window and over sixty wrappers were stolen.

“The suspect has been charged to court for
prosecution.”
