*Says EFCC intent smacks “political witch-hunt”
GOVERNMENT of Rivers State has said it not intimidated by continued media trial of its officials by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged financial misconducts.
The state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paulinus Nsirim, expressed the government’s disposition Sunday following EFCC’s announced intent to resume trial of top Rivers Government functionaries for alleged cash withdrawal of N118Billion from Rivers coffers between 2015 and 2018.

Nsirim wondered why the EFCC promoted a media complaint accusing the State Government of refusal to release top officials for interrogation in connection with the said withdrawal of N118B when subsisting court orders restrains the commission from investigating the state finances.
