Spanish coast guards rescued three Nigerians who were found on the top of the rudder of a ship from Nigeria.

The Althini II oil and chemical ship had been traveling for 11 days from Nigeria to the Canary Islands.

The Althini II ship had arrived in Las Palmas in Gran Canaria which is one of the popular getaways for Africans planning to Migrate to Europe.

The migrants were said to have no luggage as they barely had space to even sit on the rudder.

The coast guards revealed on Twitter that the migrants have been taken into the port to be treated for acute dehydration.

Barely a week ago, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) claimed that at least 50,000 migrants have died between 2014 and now while journeying across the world in search of a better life.

The report also named Africans as having the highest casualties with more than 9,000 deaths along dangerous routes like the Mediterranean sea.
