President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to members and leaders of the Tijjaniyya Movement in Nigeria following the death of its members in an accident on Maulud day.
Tinubu conveyed his sympathies in a statement signed on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
The accident, which occurred around 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, involved mostly children, who were travelling to celebrate Eld El Maulud, a Muslim festival to mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
The bus they were travelling in lost control and colluded with an articulated vehicle due to over speeding and overloading.

The statement was entitled: “President Tinubu Mourns 40 Participants Killed in Auto Crash”.
The Muslim worshippers were travelling from Kwandari in Plateau State to Saminaka, Kaduna State, for a celebratory event to mark Eid-el-Maulud — Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

However, their bus collided with an oncoming truck near the town of Lere, an organiser of the Maulud celebration reported.
Several others sustained injuries and are receiving treatment.
Tinubu “extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and injured, as well as to the governments of Kaduna and Plateau states,” said Onanuga.
He also prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed.
The President has also directed the Federal Road Safety Commission to enhance highway monitoring and reduce the number of road accidents nationwide.
