Marvel Studios executive Nate Moore has denied rumours that a key role in the Black Panther franchise will be recast in the upcoming Black Panther 3.
Moore stated that there is “no truth” to the rumours, and that the studio has not had any creative conversations about recasting the role.
Moore attributed the rumours to the fact that the studio has not yet started working on the film. “We’ll get into it later this year, but everything you read online is not true, if for no other reason than we just haven’t started working on it,” he said.
The rumours of a recast come after Chadwick Boseman’s passing in 2020. The actor played T’Challa in several Marvel films, including Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, released in 2022, addressed the character’s passing and introduced his son as a potential future Black Panther.
The film’s director, Ryan Coogler, is set to return for the third installment, which is expected to begin production later this year.
