Arsenal dealt injury blow as Gabriel Martinelli suffers a calf injury while on international duty with Brazil.
Per TNT Sports Brazil, the Brazil Football Federation (CBF) have confirmed that Martinelli experienced calf pain and following an MRI scan on Sunday, it has come out that he has an Edema on his right calf.
The player had tape on his calf during a training session and remains doubtful for the Selecao’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Peru on Wednesday.
The Brazilian’s injury news comes as a major blow for the Gunners who are already dealing with Bukayo Saka’s injury.
The Englishman limped off the field just after half-time in England’s shock 2-1 defeat to Greece at Wembley last week and had subsequently withdrawn himself from the travelling squad to Finland for the next Nations League clash on Sunday.
The Three Lions had confirmed that Saka returned to the Arsenal set up to receive further treatment from the club’s medical team.
Martinelli has appeared in all the 10 matches Mikel Arteta’s side have played thus far across all competitions where he scored twice and provided as many assists.
