Manchester City returned to form, securing the largest Premier League win of the season, with a resounding 6-0 victory over struggling Ipswich at Portman Road. This triumph propelled City back into the top four.
Pep Guardiola’s side had previously drawn 2-2 with Brentford, squandering a two-goal lead. However, they bounced back in emphatic fashion, with Phil Foden delivering a standout performance. Foden scored twice and provided an assist,
Foden’s first goal came in the 28th minute, courtesy of a precise Kevin De Bruyne cross. He expertly controlled the ball inside the box before sweeping it past the goalkeeper.
Manchester City doubled their lead just three minutes later, thanks to Mateo Kovacic’s crisp strike from the edge of the box, assisted by Foden.
Foden secured his brace two minutes before halftime, with De Bruyne once again providing the assist. The England forward’s low shot slipped under the goalkeeper, further extending City’s advantage.
Manchester City’s players Jeremy Doku scored their fourth goal shortly after the break, and Erling Haaland, fresh from signing a new contract, made it 5-0 just before the hour mark.
The rout was completed by substitute James McAtee, who scored with a delightful looping header from Kovacic’s cross.
