Nigeria’s Petroleum Minister, Heineken Lokpobiri, visited the NNPC/FIRST E&P Joint Venture in the Niger Delta, reaffirming the government’s support for their 100,000 bpd target and its role in achieving Nigeria’s 2.5 million bpd goal by 2025.
Heineken Lokpobiri is the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the NNPC Limited/FIRST Exploration & Petroleum Development Company Limited (FIRST E&P) Joint Venture (JV) in achieving its goal of producing 100,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd).
During a two-day visit to the Niger Delta, the Minister toured the Abigail-Joseph Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel and inspected the Anyala Oil Mining Licence (OML) 83 and Madu OML 85 Conductor Supported Platforms (CSPs).
He also visited the Ogu Logistics Base and attended a Host Community Stakeholders Engagement meeting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Lokpobiri highlighted that reaching the 100,000 bpd target would help Nigeria achieve its goal of producing 2.5 million bpd by 2025.

He commended FIRST E&P for contributing to Nigeria’s achievement of 1.8 million bpd and praised the company’s positive impact on the national economy.
The Managing Director of FIRST E&P, Ademola Adeyemi-Bero, reinforced the company’s commitment to supporting the government’s objectives by maximising production and efficiency.
He explained that with a steady output of 56,000 bpd, the company aims to surpass 100,000 bpd in the medium term.
Bala Wunti, representing NNPC, and Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, expressed their support for the JV’s work, particularly in community development.
Lastly, Lokpobiri praised the host communities for their peaceful cooperation, emphasising that their continued support was crucial for achieving the production targets and advancing Nigeria’s energy goals.
