The FIFPRO World 11 for 2024 has been announced, with six players from Champions League winners Real Madrid and four from Manchester City making the cut.
Lionel Messi has been left out of the team for the first time in almost 20 years.
His place in the front row was taken by Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Vinicius Jr.
Real Madrid and England midfielder Jude Bellingham topped the men’s overall voting, receiving 11,176 selections from his peers.
The only player outside of Real Madrid and Manchester City to make the men’s team of the year was Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
The 2024 Women’s World 11 is dominated by English players, with five selected: Lucy Bronze, Mary Earps, Alex Greenwood, Lauren James, and Keira Walsh.
Bronze’s seventh selection tied her with Wendie Renard for the women’s appearance record.
Zambian player Barbra Banda made history by becoming the first African woman to be selected for the Women’s World 11.
