An end has come to the reign of illegal under-bridge landlords feeding off the desperation of unsuspecting individuals in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The joint task force of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) and Lagos State Environment and Special Offences team commenced the removal of shanties and makeshift structures built under Adeniji Adele bridge after expiration of the vacation notice.
Sometime last week, illegal apartments were discovered by the Lagos state government beneath the Osborne, Ikoyi bridge.
The occupants of the partitioned apartments revealed that they paid ₦250,000 as annual rent to self-acclaimed landlords.

This raised concerns. It is almost unbelievable that anyone would agree to pay that sum of money to live in a shanty.
Some arrests were made to this effect while the alleged ringleader of the illegal landlords identified as “Mopol” is still at large.
