The German tactician brought a nine-year reign as Reds coach to a close at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

He bid an emotional farewell to Anfield having helped to collect Premier League and Champions League titles over the course of an iconic stint on Merseyside.

Klopp’s plan was to take a break from the dugout, having run out of energy, but was sounded out by the United States following their decision to part company with Gregg Berhalter.

Said approach has been politely rebuffed, with the 57-year-old instead strengthening his ties to Liverpool.

Klopp has agreed to become an honorary ambassador of the LFC Foundation – the club’s official charity – and has said of continuing to work for a cause that he supported wholeheartedly across his time in England:

“The LFC Foundation does an incredible job in the community, both in the Liverpool City Region and beyond.

“I am really proud to continue my work with them and be named the first ever LFC Foundation honorary ambassador.

“I look forward to seeing what we can do with that now that I have more time on my hands.”

“Having his support has been priceless for us over the years and to have that continue is fantastic and highlights his commitment to the Foundation and the work that we continue to do across the Liverpool City Region.

“Jurgen’s love and passion for the city has been clear throughout his time at the club and it can only benefit us having his support and his voice championing the work that we do moving forward.”

Klopp donated a number of unique items worn and signed by him to the LFC Foundation following his final game as Liverpool boss, which helped to generate £40,000 in just seven days.

He will now continue to raise awareness for the charity while supporting them in further fund-raising activities.
