A traditional ruler in Plateau State, Isaac Wakili, who was kidnapped by gunmen on Friday has regained his freedom.
Residents of the Shere community in Jos, where the monarch was abducted said he was rescued on Friday a few hours after his abduction.
A resident, Philip Izam, who confirmed the release of the traditional ruler to PUNCH in Jos added that he had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
Izam said, “You know our traditional ruler was kidnapped by gunmen at his palace in the early hours of Friday but he has just been released. He was released a few hours after his abduction with the help of security men. He is not at his palace at the moment because they took him to the hospital for examination considering what he went through at the hands of his abductors.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Alabo Alfred, who also confirmed the release of the monarch said that two suspects have been arrested.
The PPRO said, “The monarch has just been rescued and two kidnap suspects arrested. An investigation is still in progress please.”
The monarch was kidnapped in his palace in Shere community, Jos East LGA in an attack that killed one person and wounded one of the police officers who engaged them in a gun battle.
