Kanye West has announced that he has been diagnosed with autism, overturning his previous bipolar disorder diagnosis. Autism is a condition that affects how people think, communicate, and interact with others.
The rapper and fashion mogul revealed the news during an interview, stating that his wife, Bianca Censori, encouraged him to seek a second opinion after questioning the accuracy of his initial diagnosis.
West explained that learning about his autism has given him a new perspective on his past behaviors, including his outspoken support for Donald Trump and his resistance to outside influences on his music.
He also shared that he has opted not to take medication, fearing it could hinder his creativity. Instead, he focuses on recognizing early signs of potential episodes to manage them more effectively.
Reflecting on his journey, West stated, “Like I said on the album, it’s not a disability, it’s a superpower.”
He also revealed that his upcoming album, Bully, is inspired by his son, Saint, and is set to be released on his daughter North West’s birthday.
West’s revelation comes shortly after he and Censori made headlines at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, where her outfit sparked widespread media attention.
Addressing public criticism, he insisted that Censori’s fashion choices are made with his approval and dismissed backlash as “woke feminist” rhetoric.
