Fresh controversy has started springing up over the mysterious death of Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Aloba.
Indeed, Mohbad may have journeyed to the great beyond since 2023, however, the effect of his tragic demise and the controversy therein still lingers.
Many Nigerians who had vowed to take laws into their hands to ensure justice for the late Yoruba rapper had later succumbed to the plea of the authorities and the Lagos Government.
“Let there be peace,” they told Nigerians as they promised to serve justice.
Now, Nigerians have waited patiently, in fact, they have been more than patient.
It has been two years already and no justice has been served, even those many Nigerians were sure to have had a hand in Mohbad’s death are walking the streets free.
As a matter of fact, the Mohbad case seems to have been entirely forgotten, but not for actor Yomi Fabiyi.
Gbam, an idea dropped in his head and before we knew what was happening, Fabiyi convened a world press conference on the issue.
During the World Press Conference held on Wednesday at the Radisson Blu in Ikeja, Lagos State, Fabiyi sought justice for Mohbad.
#JusticeForMohbad Press Conference
This conference, although very chaotic, opened up fresh layers in the Mohbad case.
It also opened up fresh wounds, particularly for Mama Mohbad who cried almost throughout the event.
The drama got to its peak when the convener, Yomi Fabiyi, told newsmen that the late singer’s brother, Adura Aloba, reached out to him via Instagram, asserting that he possessed knowledge about the true cause of his brother’s death.
In response, Mohbad’s mother refuted this assertion, emphasising that Adura could not possibly know the reasons behind Mohbad’s passing and should refrain from speaking on the matter.
The visibly distressed mother directed her anger towards Fabiyi, asserting that she would not permit him to inflict further pain by taking another child from her.
She expressed her profound sorrow over Mohbad’s death, stating that had her son been alive, she would not have been present in the same venue as Fabiyi.
“They killed Mohbad, and you want me to lose his brother unjustly. He knows nothing about his brother’s death; do not implicate my son.
“I am not happy that I lost Mohbad because if he were alive, I wouldn’t be sitting here with you. They took my precious gift away, and I won’t let them take Adura, too,” she added.
Fabiyi responded, saying he wasn’t concerned about the message’s sender but rather the content itself, maintaining that he wasn’t convinced that it wasn’t Adura who sent him the message.

Meanwhile, in his speech, Fabiyi called on the Governor, IG of Police, and the President, to look into the matter.
The Reburial
He advised that a tactical team should be set up to investigate the case stressing that it has given the country a bad image.
According to him, it will be very difficult for citizens to trust the Lagos State Police if justice is not served as promised.
Another issue that took the center stage at the event was the issue of Mohbod’s burial.
Don’t forget that Moh has not been committed back to the mother-earth since he was exhumed.
We are as surprised as you are.
The Mohbad’s case happens to be a very complicated issue, one that has given the Nigeria Police a tough time to crack.
As it is often said “na when wind blow, fowl yash de open.”
Could it be that the police are not capable of handling sensitive issues like murder?
Such a disappointment you would say, or perhaps, a challenge to the force.
For now, all eyes is on the Nigeria Police.
