June 12: My father jumped fence to escape from soldiers - Abiola's Son

Abdulmumuni, the son of late M.K.O Abiola has spoken about June 12 being the new democracy day in Nigeria and also how his father jumped the fence to escape his life while been chased by unknown soldiers.

Mumuni disclosed this during an exclusive interview with iBrandTV in his late father’s resident in Lagos.

While responding to a question about President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent declaration in 2018, announcing June 12 as the new date for the celebration of democracy day, he stated that the move was a new beginning for Nigeria as a nation.

According to him, “Acknowledging that was justice and I think nothing is ever done properly if justice is not at the core of it. so once that is done, what I excepted was an active movement towards addressing the issues that are plaguing the nation as we speak.

“My father did not miss his words when he ran for the 1993 election, he said farewell to poverty. No everywhere I look across this great land is not something I believe my father will be pleased with.”
