To celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, Apple Music has released a list highlighting the biggest Nigerian artistes, songs, and albums of all time.
The initiative, titled “Oshe Naija” (meaning “Thanks Nigeria” in Yoruba), is a month-long tribute to various regions that have significantly influenced the soundscape of Nigerian music and brought it to a global audience.
As part of the festivities, Apple Music unveiled the top 10 most-streamed Nigerian albums of all time on its platform.
Wizkid’s critically acclaimed album, Made In Lagos, released in 2020, tops the list.
The album features the global hit “Essence,” featuring Tems, which won the 2022 BET Award for Best Collaboration.
Burna Boy’s Grammy-nominated sixth album, Love, Damini, ranks second, while his Grammy-nominated fourth album, African Giant, comes in at number three.
Tems’ For Broken Ears is the fourth most-streamed Nigerian album of all time on Apple Music.
It stands out as the only project by a female artiste and the only EP included in the list.
