The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami has insisted that he is not aware of the increase in licence fees by the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST).
NIPOST on Friday released cutthroat increment in licence fees, with companies and individuals complaining bitterly about the development.
In a tweet on Saturday, Pantami said he didn’t approve that, and he’d told the management of NIPOST to put the move on hold.
“Pls @NipostNgn, our attention has been drawn to an increase of licence fee, which was not part of the regulation I earlier APPROVED for you. Your Chair and PMG were YESTERDAY contacted to put the implementation on hold and send a report to our ministry by Monday. Best wishes!,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, iBrandTV gathered that the new licence fees rose after Babajide Sanwo-Olu met the management of NIPOST after Lagos businessmen complained bitterly to him on their challenges.
ALSO, Nigerians have continued to lament over the development, stressing that the increment is poorly timed and is regardless of the current economic weather, caused as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the struggles of business.
