For weeks now, Nigerians have been keeping taps on the controversial arrest of a popular cross-dresser, named Idris Okuneye known as Bobrisky.

Bobrisky’s trouble started when Nigerians in large numbers began calling for his arrest following his transgender identity.

The police, however, seemed to have been dull over the issue, leading to more suspicion.

In fact, because of this delay, another social media influencer know as VeryDarkMan, had alleged that some top police officials are involved with Bob, an allegation that landed him in the police cell for days.

The allegation did not end there, even Nigerian senators were accused of being involved with Bobrisky.

The Connection

Perhaps, many Nigerians did not find the senators part surprising, this is because, Bobrisky himself has on several occasions mentioned that he has friends in high places.

According to him, these friends, who include, senators, business tycoons, etc are the ones responsible for his flashy lifestyle.

Days after the call for his arrest, Bobrisky found himself in big trouble.

Something he does very often landed him in the hands of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

That day, we mean, the day of his arrest, the internet was on fire, in fact, #Bobrisky topped the trend chart of almost every platform.

A Big Surprise

Nigerians picked so much interest in this case, as many wanted to see the power of the connections he usually brags about.

To some, it was time to clamp down Bobrisky, he was becoming to much of an issue.

Many people were sure that Bobrisky will not face a jail term, but to their greatest surprise, the crossdresser has been sentenced to six months imprisonment without any option fine for abuse of naira.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos gave the sentencing on Friday morning’.

Justice Awogboro said the judgment will serve as a deterrent to others who are fond of abusing and mutilating the naira.

Indeed, every day is for the thief and one day is for the owner.

Now, the beat has changed and Bobrisky, oh sorry, Idris is forced to dance to it with no one coming to his aid.
