It is often said that a prophet is not always celebrated in his own home, well, that is not for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
As we speak, the Internet is buzzing with reactions as Nigerians celebrate Peter Obi on the occasion of his 63rd birthday.
Obi clocks 63 years on July 19, 2024.
Indeed, Peter Obi now commands a large crowd of supporters, thanks to the 2023 elections.
He had earlier pleaded with well wishes to redirect funds and gifts meant for his birthday to schools, hospitals, and care homes.
Peter Obi’s Birthday Wish
Obi spoke via a series of posts on his X page.
To him, his birthday would be a time for personal reflection and thanksgiving to God for his life, good health, and the opportunity to contribute to the betterment of humanity.
He expressed appreciation to persons who are already sending birthday wishes and organising events in his honour.
However, he pleaded that they “redirect those resources towards supporting the needy, particularly those in hospitals and schools”.
He said the contributions can help pay medical bills and school fees for the less privileged.

“I also appeal that all gifts intended for my birthday be donated to care homes, schools, and hospitals, which will greatly benefit from your generosity,” he wrote.
The Celebration
But trust Nigerians, despite this appeal, his supporters have chosen to celebrate Obi in special ways.
The millions of goodwill messages flooding the internet stand as a testament to the fact that Obi is loved by his supporters.

It was mounted by supporters in the state as part of the celebration.
