A member of the Diobu Vigilante, Kelvin Dappa, is in critical condition at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, Port Harcourt, after gunmen shot him Monday night.
The gunmen who stormed the area at Monday night fatally shot Dappa on the buttocks and disappeared before colleagues could come to the victim’s rescue.
Vigilantes in Diobu are constant targets of armed gangs for suppressing cult violence and armed robberies against residents in the volatile Rivers capital suburb with the police hardly rising to the occasion.
Prince Amatari Bipeledei, Secretary/Spokesperson, Diobu Vigilante narrated that,
“Unknown gunmen in a Toyota Camry at about 8.20pm stormed Dick Tiger Street, Diobu, and shot Kelvin Dappa who was on duty.
