In Abeokuta, the heart of Ogun State, one could hear the audible buzz of excitement. The air was filled with anticipation as Governor Dapo Abiodun prepared to make an announcement that would impact the state’s future and its agricultural landscape.
Governor Abiodun On Food Security
In a significant move to boost food security and support the federal government’s push for agricultural revival, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, gave farmlands to 26 state House of Assembly members on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
The event, held at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, also celebrated the first anniversary of the 10th legislature.
Governor Abiodun handed out letters of allocation to the lawmakers, highlighting the state’s aim to become Nigeria’s food basket.
“I remember promising to give agricultural land to all Ogun State legislators as part of our food security and agricultural revival plan.
“Today, I am happy to give you the letters of allocation for the speaker and the 26 members of the House of Assembly.
“This plan supports President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda,” Abiodun said.
Dedication to Good Governance
Abiodun praised the Assembly members for their dedication to democracy, good governance, and the well-being of the citizens.
He noted their hard work as key to the state’s progress.
“In the last year, the lawmakers have passed many bills and resolutions to improve people’s lives.
“Their hard work, honesty, and teamwork with the executive have made our state one of the best in the country,” he said.

However, he stressed the importance of unity in advancing the state’s development, promising continued cooperation with the Assembly on key projects.
“We must strive to create a society where every citizen has the chance to succeed.
“Together, we have a big task ahead,” he noted.
Governor Abiodun also promised to focus on investments in infrastructure, healthcare, and technology to keep Ogun State competitive.
Lawmaker Speaks On Success
Speaker Oludaisi Elemide described the past year as tough but successful, driven by the legislators’ commitment to representing the people.
He thanked the governor for renovating the assembly complex, which now has 24 new toilets and restored water supply.
Elemide assured the governor that the Assembly will continue to work with him to make laws that speed up the state’s development, always keeping their constituents’ interests in mind.
As the lawmakers left with their letters of allocation, they carried with them not just the promise of land, but a renewed sense of purpose and a vision for a prosperous future.
